Elinor Barker of Great Britain , last year’s silver medalist in Copenhagen, Denmark, won the UCI Road World Championships Junior Women Individual Time Trial race. The 18-year-old vitrine brugge rider is the first British gold medalist in the Worlds 2012.
Barker took the victory over 15.6km course in 0:22:26. Cecilie Uttrup Ludwig of Denmark finished in second, vitrine brugge 36 seconds behind Barker. Demi De Jong of Netherlands finished in third, 1 minute and 3 seconds down on the race winner.
After the race, Barker said: “The first hill was pretty much straightaway which I think suited me as I am a bit of a climber and then it was sort of downhill to the finish and not too technical the rest of the way.”
